This gag photo was photographed at Lake Hopatcong by local photographer William J. Harris in 1899.
One of the trademarks of W.J. Harris were his humor and novelty postcards. Vacation time at Lake Hopatcong encouraged people to loosen up a little and laugh, and humorous scenes were in high demand to send back to friends in the cities.
