Description
A person on the beach beyond the mast of the Sea King.
The mast off 10th Street in Barnegat Light, NJ belongs to the fomer fishing boat Sea King which was beached in 1963 while towing a a US Government Minesweeper to New York for refurbishing. Both went aground south of the Barnegat Inlet. The minesweeper was safely towed from the shallow water. Salvage efforts for the Sea King worked temporarily but she couldn't be freed before the sand and the tides gripped her beyond release. The sand has now consumed the Sea King totally, except for the mast sticking up from the sand.
